Georgie Bass

Georgie Bass is a new café and cooking school that focuses on healthy food and locally-sourced ingredients. Located in Flinders on the Morning Peninsula, the café is linked to another of our clients, the Flinders Hotel.

When approached to create a brand, we first needed a name. In our research, we discovered that the town of Flinders was named after explorer Matthew Flinders by his friend (and rumoured lover) George Bass.

We decided to reunite this 19th century pair by naming the café after Bass, across the road from the hotel, named after Flinders. The masculine name ‘George’ was given a feminine twist as ‘Georgie’ with a similarly feminine execution in its typography and colour palette.

Our brand has since been rolled out across everything from social media to coffee cups. We’re happy to hear that Georgie Bass is now a local favourite for foodies on the Peninsula.
